Jennifer Egan will read from her highly anticipated new novel, Manhattan Beach, on Tuesday, October 10, at the Eudora Welty Education and Visitors Center in a program co-sponsored by Lemuria Books. Egan will sign at 5 p.m. and read at 5:30. A reception will follow.

“This is a novel that deserves to join the canon of New York stories,” according to Amor Towles’s story on the front page of The New York Times Book Review on Sunday October 8. A longer version of Towles’s review was published on October 3 in the Times and may be read here.

Egan’s latest novel, her fifth, was longlisted for the National Book Award for Fiction this year and follows her Pulitzer Prize and National Book Critics Circle Award-winning A Visit from the Goon Squad.  Her other works include The Keep, a national bestseller; Emerald City: Look at Me, a National Book Award Finalist; and The Invisible Circus, adapted into a major motion picture.
