Please join us for poetry and discussion with Adam Clay and Jeanne Larsen as the Millsaps Visiting Writers Series launches the year’s inaugural event at Coffee Prose, 1619 North West Street across from the campus, Tuesday, September 24, at 5:30 p.m.

Clay is creative writing and literature professor at the University of Southern Mississippi, the editor of Mississippi Review, and co-editor of Typo Magazine.  His latest book of poetry is Stranger, and his fourth book, To Make Room for the Sea, is forthcoming, both from Milkweed Editions. His poetry has been published widely, including in Ploughshares, Denver Quarterly, and Boston Review. Clay photo courtesy Jacques-Alain Finkeltroc.

Larsen, recently retired from Hollins College as Jackson Professor of Creative Writing, is a self-described “multi-genre writer,” including poetry, fiction, and non-fiction. She also translates poems and has had her education enhanced (her Ph. D. is in comparative literature) by language study in Taiwan and Japan and other sites abroad.  What Penelope Chooses: poems, received the Cider Press Review Book award.

The Eudora Welty Foundation is pleased to support the Millsaps College Visiting Writers Series.
