Author Paulette Jiles will read from her new novel, News of the World, a 2016 National Book Award Finalist, on February 16 at the Eudora Welty Education and Visitors Center in collaboration with Lemuria Books. Book signing will begin at 5 p.m., followed by the reading and a reception, all free and open to the public.

Jiles is a novelist, poet, and memoirist. She is the author of Cousins, a memoir, and the novels Enemy Women, a New York Times Best Seller; Stormy Weather; The Color of Lightning; and Lighthouse Island, in addition to News of the World. Her new book is the story of an aging, itinerant reader of the news to paying audiences who agrees to transport a young captive of the Kiowa back to her people in the aftermath of the Civil War. news-of-the-world
