Jackson’s Lemuria Books will host a Facebook LIVE event at 12 noon CST on Thursday, November 5, featuring three of the most knowledgeable persons on Eudora Welty and her life and literature. Welty’s niece, Mary Alice Welty White, and Welty biographers Suzanne Marrs and Carolyn Brown will discuss One Writer’s Beginnings, Welty’s memoir and the story of her creative development.  The Los Angeles Times calls the book “profound and priceless as guidance for anyone who aspires to write.”

This special event celebrates the release of the updated edition of One Writer’s Beginnings featuring an introduction by Mississippi’s own Natasha Trethewey, Pulitzer Prize-winning poet and memoirist herself and former Poet Laureate of both the United States and Mississippi.

White was the first director of the Eudora Welty House and is secretary of the Welty Foundation Board of Directors. Marrs is Welty Foundation Scholar-in-Residence and Emerita Professor of English, Millsaps College. Brown is the author of A Daring Life: A Biography of Eudora Welty and teaches writing and literature at St. Andrew’s Episcopal School.

Tune in to Lemuria’s Facebook site here  at noon on November 5.
