As we anticipate the end of winter and the return of spring, please mark your calendar for a special event at the Eudora Welty House and Garden.
On Saturday, February 12, an Arbor Day Tree Giveaway will be held on the lawn of the Welty House from noon until 4 p.m. The Mississippi Urban Forest Council will provide a selection of trees native to the state to give away to visitors. Among the free trees will be Red Oak, a significant tree on the Welty House lawn.
This family-friendly event will offer activities for children, including coloring sheets, scavenger hunts, and name games interpreting trees in the Welty Garden. Information will be provided on significant trees in the Welty Garden, and visitors will be invited to enjoy complimentary cups of hot apple cider. The Eudora Welty House and Garden will also be open for tours that day.
